What is at the heart of the world-wide epidemic of diabetes? And even more importantly, how do we act successfully to turn it around?
My own belief is that over-acidification of body tissues is at the root, as the physical cause of diabetes, due to:
1) improper or unbalanced diet
2) too much or too little activity
3) extremely negative or stressful thinking.
The antidote is alkalinity, calmness and positive thoughts, so that is why I am teaching about your need for alkalizing and stress-reduction, on a personal level — but more is also needed on a societal level. Person by person we create a new society. (Please read my article on Health, Harmonies, Enlightenment – link below.)
As physical causes are only one source, I ask you to investigate the emotional and mental triggers of your stress. You don’t live in a vacuum and you do live in a fast-changing society. I suggest in modern society, that mental and emotional health are being pushed to the limits. There are chronic, strong sources of stress — economic concerns, family concerns, being assaulted by an increasingly non-caring, isolating, judgmental society. Are you self-sabotaging sometimes just to feel good for a little while — comfort, just needing comfort?
Strive to think positive thoughts or relax to think them — whichever works for you. Be mindful of your thoughts moment to moment. No-one but you can do this step and it is essential. If a negative or frightening thought comes into consciousness, acknowledge it, deal with it (if it is real and necessary) and let it go. If it is not realistic, then let it go. If your mind is always unsettled, then think about using some of the quieting modalities mentioned below — Flower Essences, Tai Chi etc. Importantly, replace or follow-up any negative thinking with at least three positive or happy thoughts right away. Change the energy! Become comfortable being “you”.

Your Voice and Courage are needed, as I also think our Health is being purposely sabotaged on a large, never before heard of scale, which previously only wars engendered.
Through a web of marketed Lies about the real contents of so-called “foods”, Health is taken from us. And the agenda of greed (or worse) on the part of corporations and governments, in regard to access to safe food and health care and quality of life, has long since reached a point of critical need for action.
In America, without campaign reform, I believe there is little chance for health-care reform. Please consider commenting on what is happening in your country. In the USA, too many politicians have to depend on the money coming from Big Pharma, insurance industry, and other health-associated or food-associated corporations for re-election. The corporations get access to legislators for a corporate pittance, and have succeeded in abusing and de-activating our legislative and health protection regulatory systems, totally.
Our country is just not working for the citizenry. It is working for wealthy and corporate goals. As a diabetic, you need to be a really concerned activist, as your life depends on access to healthcare, if you cannot turn your diabetes around using the tactics offered here. Medications are increasingly expensive and harder to purchase for older citizens, as America ages. Often government programs get surplus technology and do not provide the newest technologies or access to top-level practitioners.
In a society where privacy is increasingly not being defended and technology outruns even an interested sector’s ability to police the information it holds in trust, you should also be trying to turn your diabetes around in order to be employable. There is job discrimination based on health, and people have gone to extremes to “hide” their diabetes. This can be life-threatening if you are not taking proper, timely care of yourself. Find a place and job which accepts you for your current health status, and then work to reverse or stabilize your diabetes. See more in the New York Times article referenced below.
Now, some tools for you to use in your Quest for Calm and Alkalinity.
For Calm – Are you open to finding some new ways to Calmness? It’s important, so choose and incorporate as many among the following options as possible. Many take very little money or equipment. Some take very little time, too. It’s a great investment in You.
___ for effective, safe reduction in stress and for mental and emotional support, learn more about Flower Essences. Links are below from companies I recommend. I personally know they work, and so do the physicians I know and respect well. They are Nature’s best energy medicines, and are Humanity’s oldest medicines.
___ for gentle, effective exercise which reduces stress and unites body-mind-spirit, I recommend Yoga, Tai Chi or Chi Gong. For gentle, strengthening exercises (so all of your body’s muscles can burn sugar optimally), I recommend Pilates. Exercise clears out the cobwebs in our mind and we become refreshed – living on a new page.
___ understand the biochemistry of food and manipulate it for Health and Mood.
1) Do NOT use ANY artificial sweeteners*. Instead, use natural sweeteners. There are a couple of natural, low-glycemic sweeteners: agave and stevia. Of the two, I recommend judicious use of agave (but it has an acidic pH profile). Stevia is the only natural sweetener which has almost-zero blood sugar impact, but research is showing some other potential issues. If you use stevia, use only whole green stevia, not the white powders.
Small amounts of only organic maple syrup Grade B and organic raw honey (not for children under 3 years old!) are the only other sweeteners I recommend, and they may be used infrequently to provide variety or their needed flavor.
2) Serotonin is the hormone which solicits Calm. This biochemistry is often impaired in diabetics.
Serotonin food sources are: cod, snapper, wild chinook salmon, yellowfin tuna (once a week due to higher mercury exposure), halibut, whole cooked soybeans (not soy “products”), unsweetened organic yoghurt with live cultures OR organic cheese — using goat’s milk especially, spinach, mustard greens, organic turkey breast, organic lamb loin, organic beef tenderloin, organic calves’ liver (this will have to be ordered from a good health store). The dairy and animal flesh have acodic pH profiles, in varying degrees.
Asparagus, kale, black beans, split peas, soy miso, organic eggs and green beans are secondary recommended sources. Other items on the list link at whfoods are not recommended, usually for ecological reasons, but also for other health or processing reasons.
I recommend no more than (1) 3 – 4 oz. portion of the animal foods a day or (1) 6 oz portion of the fish or (1) cup of the beans or yoghurt. Use this for evening meal for best results to help you sleep and decompress from your day. The yoghurt may be taken as a bedtime snack; use one of the recommended natural sweeteners to make it pleasant — even add a drop of natural vanilla extract. OR, discuss with a knowledgeable medical practitioner the addition of a 5-HTP supplement (not for those taking medication for depression etc.).
You will need green leafy vegetables to aid the conversion of foods into the needed serotonin, and to have a healthy liver (discuss using milk thistle or silymarin with a knowledgeable medical practitioner – preferably a properly trained naturopathic physician** or holistic MD or DO or orthomolecular MD or DO.) DO is a Doctor of Osteopathy.
Now, for helping you become alkaline, as well as inducing calmness, as these minerals help both goals.
Use high natural calcium, potassium and magnesium foods which were easily available to hunter-gatherers in Nature – i.e. no dairy (except the yoghurt or cheese in the preceding serotonin paragraph).
1) Calcium foods are needed even more than usual if you are under high stress, taking thyroid medication or steroids or using aluminum-based antacids (e.g. Maalox, Mylanta — don’t use these; rather use calcium based ones like Tums, and try to address the stomach upset using other methods — especially Evamor water and natural bicarbonate of soda).
Hormone replacement therapy (also not recommended) and some antibiotics (read the list link at whfoods) also require more calcium intake.
If you decide to take a calcium supplement, I recommend only using the most absorbable: calcium citrate (or second choices: calcium gluconate or calcium aspartate).
Calcium food sources: steamed turnip and mustard greens, goat’s milk, goat yoghurt and cheeses, basil, thyme, cinnamon (not to excess — very good for diabetics, but check your blood readings), steamed kale and mozzarella cheese.
2) Magnesium foods are need to supply the raw materials for at least 300 of the approximately 1,400 enzyme reactions your body needs moment by moment. It is important in your ability to metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats! It is especially important for your heart and for your blood sugar levels.Kidney disease decreases amounts of available magnesium, and many diabetics have kidney problems — even silently — get your physician to check kidney function, regularly.
For magnesium: use raw almonds and raw pumpkin seeds, summer squash, kelp, raw flax seeds – grind as meal and sprinkle on cereal, salads etc, steamed spinach and Swiss chard, broccoli (only a couple of times a week due to anti-thyroid potential), steamed, halibut, basil, coriander seed, steamed kale.
3) Potassium foods are especially needed if you are using diuretic or high blood pressure medications or anti-inflammatory medications, and these foods are needed to maintain proper pH of your body (i.e. correct acid-alkaline relationship in blood and tissues).
If you have kidney disease or blood-clotting disorder, you also need to monitor potassium levels. Potassium foods will also help to lower high blood pressure and run your nervous system. Potassium is also important in the storage of carbohydrates process.
The recommended ratio is 5 times as much potassium as sodium, daily. Leafy plants generally will give you this natural ratio. Always use the waters which vegetables have been steamed in for soups, sauces or herbal teas, unless you use an electric steamer (dispose of that water).
Potassium foods I recommend: steamed Swiss chard and spinach and kale, romaine lettuce, celery, steamed winter squash, tomatoes, summer squash, eggplant, carrots, green beans, asparagus, red bell pepper, onions (raw), sweet potato. Best fruits are: cantaloupe (eaten with no other foods), papaya, kiwi, banana (infrequently or monitor blood sugars as it is high glycemic fruit), oranges, avocado, watermelon, plums, prunes, ginger.
* Artificial sweeteners: When aspartame was “approved” by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA, as “safe”, in the late ‘70s, after much hue and cry from scientists NOT to approve it, Donald H. Rumsfeld (yes, the same one from US Government) headed the Big Pharma company, Searle, which produces aspartame. So, long ago he sold his soul to Searle and others, in the secret, ongoing government-within-a-government which President Dwight Eisenhower, President Kennedy and President Jimmy Carter had the courage to publically expose.
This is so insidious and incestuous and Rumsfeld is so “tied” to a group with an agenda to drastically destabilze the world to depopulate it. More on that another time, but you can begin to research the Illuminati and the New World Order yourself. Yes, it’s real and has been officially entrenched since at least the Babylonian Empire, thousands of years ago. This is a global, self-serving, powerful uber-government and it has been the world’s secret power-broker and war-monger all this time.

Skinner (in the New York Times article), which effectively stopped the Government’s investigations into Nutrasweet. Continue on with Arthur Hills Hayes, MD’s antics.
Meanwhile, learn more about Aspartame’s (Nutrasweet, Equal etc.) real dangers. “Dr. Ralph G. Walton, a professor of psychiatry at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine found that all 74 studies that were financed by the industry attested to sweetener’s safety. Of the 92 independently funded articles, 84 identified adverse health effects. … Aspartame is made up of two amino acids, phenyalanine and aspartic acid. He said that an excess of phenyalanine could upset the body’s balance of neurotransmitters, causing a range of neurological symptoms. … “If your blood phenyalanine level was increased five times, in my view there would be a safety concern,” Dr. Pardridge said. “The question is whether aspartame use could ever increase levels that much, and the answer is yes. We’ve known that for 20 years.”
Dr. Soffritti, MD extensive studies in Italy — he said he had not studied the effects of phenyalanine. He theorized that the tumors in his study were related to the methanol, or wood alcohol, that is produced as the body metabolizes aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal). When the body breaks down methanol, the result is formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. “I know that when I treat animals with methanol, you end up with lymphomas and leukemias,” he said.” NYT URL is below.
This is why artificial sweeteners raise acidic pH to the body’s limit, too! And, don’t consider Splenda as being an acceptable alternative. It is being used as a very effective insecticide in other countries! Any sucralose product is even worse than aspartame. Neither should be in your body.

*** Almonds: The California Almond Board has defiantly decided to sterilize almonds and still label them “raw”. But, after sterilization, they will be a dead non-food. Find your voice and complain to them and to your state and federal legislators. Farmers in other countries may follow the California lead, so pay attention.
But, California produces about 80% of the world’s almonds, one of the most nutritious foods on Earth!This is over-reaction is really serious, and the situation was triggered by a single incidence of E. coli outbreak, the solution to which can be handled many other ways WITHOUT sterilizing the almonds. All this is illogical behavior as there are no requirements to sterilize raw meats which have been the source of hundreds of outbreaks (also which still can be handled without radiation treatments or other sterilizations).
