For decades, apple cider vinegar and warm water has been a well-known gargle! Yes, from the Caribbean to Austria, warm water with lemon juice, honey and cayenne is sipped as a detoxification as part of the “Master Cleanser” protocol, and it’s an alkalizing method used by sufferers of colds and flus.
So, how to do this — at the first sign of a sore or scratchy throat, mix 2 teaspoons organic apple cider vinegar in 6 – 8 fluid ounces of warm water (preferably spring water). Take a mouthful, gargle with it for a minute and then spit it out. Next, swallow a mouthful of the mix. Repeat this gargle // swallow pattern until there’s nothing left in the glass. Do this every hour until your throat is feeling better. The sisters say they usually feel better within 2 – 3 hours.
Em says: Only use Bragg’s Organic apple cider vinegar (or Spectrum’s) and only the versions which contain the enzymatic “mother of vinegar” (it will say this on the label). For people over 3 years of age, use raw, organic honey, but NO honey should be given to children under 3 years old due to all honey contains the potential to harbor botulinum spores. But our immune systems can handle the botulism spores, in the minute quantities which may appear in honey, after we are 3 years old and if we are basically healthy people. Cooking honey (as all processed honeys are) does not kill the spores; that’s why I say ‘no honey under 3 years old’.
Em also says: Do not use this treatment before you need it, as the mouth bacteria are part of immunity, too. As well as harboring harmful bacteria, a process with good bacteria takes place at the back of your tongue whereby the beneficial mouth bacteria manufacture nitric oxide. This is needed to help your heart, and dilate blood vessels. So, good dental health is important, but you also want to keep natural populations of friendly bacteria alive in your mouth.
